Active Listening Etiquette
WHAT IT IS
Active listening is the discipline of letting the candidate do most of the talking, following their story with neutral probes, and resisting the urge to fill silence, sell the role, or finish their sentences. Your job in the evidence part of the interview is to extract, not to perform.
WHY IT MATTERS
Every minute you talk is a minute of evidence you didn't collect. Interviewers who over-talk also leak what they want to hear, and candidates adjust their answers to match.
