Effective Question Design

WHAT IT IS

Effective question design means every core question targets one competency from the rubric and asks for a real past example (behavioural) or a realistic job dilemma (situational). Hypotheticals like “How would you handle conflict?” invite the ideal answer, not the actual one.

WHY IT MATTERS

Generic questions produce generic answers, and generic answers get scored on delivery. A precise question forces a specific story — and a specific story can be checked against the rubric.
