Intersectional Bias
WHAT IT IS
Intersectional bias is when overlapping identities — for example gender and ethnicity, or age and disability — create a disadvantage you can't see by looking at one dimension at a time. Your process can look fair on each axis and still fail a specific group.
WHY IT MATTERS
If you only report hiring data by one dimension at a time, you can congratulate yourselves while one group is quietly filtered out at every stage.
